Bobbi Sinha-Morey
A year ago hope felt like
such a pale word til I’d seen
the path of a red-breasted
cotinga lead me away to
a brighter world: unveiled
skies glowing violet beyond
the setting sun, patchwork
fields below as if God had
intervened and my heart
tightened hardly believing
all this was made possible,
that I’d live here for the rest
of my days, a dream made
by a loving hand where
I could sit in the natural light,
a peaceful patio visited by
feathered life, sweetened
ice tea and soft voices
carried from the heavens
to sparken the spirit inside
of me.
