Brian Rihlmann

a farmers daughter
she comes in
from the backyard
black handed
from the soil
brushes sweat
plastered hair
from her brow
with the back of her arms
miles bright
as the latest flowers
she has planted
and it’s a jungle
out there
where she finds room
for more I do not know
but she always does
it makes her smile
and isn’t that the thing
