Crickets
Casey Austin Williams

the gentle sound of silence
a humming not quite heard

liberated from the hubbub
gladly relegated to noiselessness

censored only by self
utterances otherwise hushed

an abating tranquility
masking the most cacophonous occasions

quietus – quiétude – quietudo
